# Privacy at Kiddo

Last updated: 2026-09-27. A plain-language description of our actual data
practices — a summary, not a substitute for legal advice. Kiddo is operated by
an independent business based in Israel. Contact: support@kiddobooks.app.

## What we collect
- **Your story and book settings** — title, dedication, story text, character
  details and illustrator notes, style, and language — so we can build and
  illustrate your book.
- **Account data** — your email, or your Google sign-in, when you sign in. You
  can start and preview a book anonymously, with no account.
- **Payment records** — when you buy an export credit. Checkout and card details
  are handled by Polar (our Merchant of Record); we never see or store your full
  card number. We keep a record of the order (amount, date, status, and the
  details Polar sends us, which can include your billing email and country).
- **Technical data** — your IP address and basic request information, used to run
  the service, prevent abuse, and enforce our free-book limit.
- **An optional reference photo** — only if we offer this feature and you choose
  to use it. If you upload a photo to guide a character's look, you confirm you
  are the person's parent or guardian or have their permission; we strip location
  (GPS/EXIF) data before upload, store it privately, use it only to illustrate
  your book, and delete it on request.
- **Usage analytics** — only if you accept analytics cookies (see our Cookie
  Policy). These never include your story text, titles, dedications, or email.

## How your story is processed
To build a book, your text and settings are sent to AI providers that structure
the words and generate the illustrations — currently Anthropic (text
understanding) and our image-generation provider (kie.ai, which uses Google's
Gemini image models; in some cases Google's Vertex AI directly). Generated images
are stored so you can preview, re-download, and export them. Anthropic does not
use API inputs to train its models by default and deletes them within about 30
days; our image-generation provider processes the prompts we send it under its
own terms.

## Who we share data with
We don't sell your data. We use these providers to run Kiddo, each under their
own privacy terms: Supabase (database, sign-in, storage, account emails), Vercel
(website hosting), Fly.io (book generation), Anthropic and kie.ai / Google (AI
text and images), Google (sign-in, and the icon font we load on each page, which
means Google receives your IP address on page load), and Polar (payments,
Merchant of Record).

## What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not require a photo of your child, and we make no claim that a character
  "looks like" a real person. (The optional reference-photo feature above only
  applies if you choose to use it.)
- We do not use your story or images to train our own AI models, and we do not
  publish your content.

## Children's privacy
Kiddo is a tool for adults (18+). The book is often for a child, so you may
include a child's name or details in the story — that is the child's personal
data, and by providing it you confirm you are their parent or guardian, or have
permission. We use it only to make your book. We do not knowingly let children
under 18 create accounts, and we do not build advertising profiles of children.

## Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and Israel's Privacy
Protection Law), you can access, correct, delete, export, or object to or
restrict the processing of your data, and withdraw consent. We extend these
choices to everyone. You can create and preview anonymously, delete any book at
any time, ask us to delete your account and data (email support@kiddobooks.app; account
deletion is handled manually today), change your cookie choices from the "Cookie
preferences" link when analytics is enabled, and complain to your data protection
authority (in the EU, your local DPA; in Israel, the Privacy Protection Authority).

## How long we keep data
We keep your books and account data while your account is active or as needed to
provide the service. We keep payment and security or abuse records longer where
required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons. When you delete a book, its
records are removed; stored image files are removed during routine cleanup. Ask
us at support@kiddobooks.app to delete your data sooner.

## International transfers
Our providers may process data in the US, EU, and elsewhere. Where required,
transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the providers' Standard
Contractual Clauses).
