# Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Kiddo uses as few as possible. We
group them into three categories.

## Essential (always on)
Needed for the site to work — you can't turn these off.
- The Supabase sign-in cookie ('sb-…-auth-token') keeps you signed in.
  Session-based and secure.
- 'NEXT_LOCALE' remembers your chosen language.
- We also use small amounts of browser storage to keep your unsaved draft and
  remember interface preferences on your device.

## Analytics (optional — off until you accept)
Help us understand which features work. If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4
(for example the '_ga' cookie), with IP anonymization. Analytics never receive
your story text, titles, dedications, or email. Until you accept, no analytics
cookies are set; because Google Consent Mode runs in the background, Google may
still receive anonymous, cookieless measurement pings, and its servers receive
your IP address when the analytics script loads.

## Marketing (not used)
Kiddo does not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. If that ever
changes, we'll add them here and ask for your consent first.

## Your choices
When analytics is enabled, a consent banner lets you Accept all, Reject
non-essential, or Manage preferences on your first visit, and a "Cookie
preferences" link in the footer lets you change your choice any time. Rejecting
non-essential cookies does not affect essential functionality.

## A note on fonts
We load an icon font from Google on each page, which means Google receives your
IP address as part of serving that font. This is not a cookie; see our Privacy
Policy.
