# Accessibility at Kiddo

Last updated: 2026-09-27.

We want everyone to be able to create a book with Kiddo. We're working toward
WCAG 2.2 Level AA and improve accessibility as we build.

## What we do
- Warm, high-contrast text and colours, checked against WCAG AA contrast targets.
- Keyboard navigation and visible focus states for interactive controls.
- Larger touch targets on mobile, and respect for your "reduce motion" system
  setting.
- Full right-to-left support for Hebrew and Arabic.
- Screen-reader labels on key controls and status messages.

## Known limitations
We're honest about where we fall short:
- The page-editing canvas is a visual editor; some of its fine controls are not
yet fully usable with a screen reader. Tell us if this blocks you and we'll help
  directly.
- Text in the finished illustrations is part of the artwork — like any printed
picture book, that text is baked into the image, so a screen reader can't read
it from the picture. Your original story text stays available as text in the
  editor.
- We rely on some third-party components we're still auditing.

We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit, so this is a
statement of commitment and current status, not a certified conformance claim.

## Get help or tell us about a barrier
If any part of Kiddo is hard to use, email support@kiddobooks.app with what you were
trying to do and the device or assistive technology you use. We aim to reply
within a few business days and will work with you to provide the information or
help you need.
